A Heritage Walk through the Literary Worlds of Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia
In the summer of 2024, a group of 8 IB students embarked on a field trip to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria. The field trip was a collaboration between the IB Chinese Literature and IB History departments. Focusing on historical events such as the Second World War, the Holocaust, and the Cold War, the students visited sites such as the National Museum of the Czech Republic, the Terezin Concentration Camp, the Military Museum of Austria, and the Mauthausen Concentration Camp. This educational journey also incorporated values of compassion and inclusion. Exploring the literary landscape, the students visited the Literature Museum of the Austria National Library and the Kafka Museum, enabling them to understand the concept of "world literature" and the shared approaches to self-reflection and worldviews between Chinese and Western writers.
